Meteorological winter was pretty disappointing– very little snow and long periods of temps above freezing. Now that we’ve turned the page into meteorological spring and snowdrops and crocuses have been spotted in my hometown, we finally got some real snow in New Hampshire… and I went out to play in it!
We woke up Saturday morning to 8″ of fresh snow with more falling. There was only one answer: go skiing.

On a clear day you can see the mountain and the ski slopes rising in the background behind the sign, but today they were hidden by the falling snow. This wasn’t a day for great views or sweeping vistas from the top of the mountain, it was a day for discovering things feel a little different on fresh snow than they do on the euphemistic “packed powder” of classic New England ski conditions. No action shots today, and no photos of the slopes or the resort… I had other things on my mind. It was a good day.
